Child Find is a public awareness activity to locate, evaluate and identify children ages 3 through 21 years of age who may have disabilities defined under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). A child with a disability means a child evaluated and determined eligible for special education and related services in accordance with IDEA under the following categories:
Autism, Deaf-Blindness, Deaf or Hearing Impairment, Emotional Disturbance, Mental Retardation, Multiple Disabilities, Orthopedic Impairment, Other Health Impairment, Specific Learning Disabilities, Speech or Language Impairment, Traumatic Brain Injury, Visual Impairment, and Developmental Delay.
Edmond Public School District is responsible for locating, evaluating and identifying children with disabilities who live within the district boundaries. All eligible children with disabilities beginning at age three (3), who are residents of the Edmond Public School District, have a right to a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) as mandated by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The specific special education and related services for eligible children ages 3-21 will be determined by the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team members based on that particular child's unique needs.
If you have a preschool aged child or you are a parent of a child attending a private school, and you suspect your child may have a disability or is exhibiting delays in his/her development, and you are a resident of the Edmond Public School District, then please contact the Child Find Office at (405) 715-6148.
If your child is already enrolled and is attending one of the Edmond Public School District's sites, then talk to your child's teacher or school counselor about your concerns regarding your child's development, or that you suspect your child may have a disability.
Child Find es un servicio publico para localizar, evahuar e identificar ninos de edad 3-21 anos que tendran discapabilidades debajo de Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Un nino con una disabilidad semejante que ha sido evaluado y han determinado que es eligible para educacion especial o otros servicios, en acuerdo con IDEA bajo las siguientes categorias.
Autismo, Sordo-Siego, Sordo o con problemas de oir, problemas emocionales, retrasado mental, disabilidades multiples. Ortopedicas, otras disabilidades de salud. Problemas de aprender idioma o lenguaje, Trauma de celebro, problemas visuales y retrazos de crecimiento.
EI distrito de Edmond Public Schools es responsable para localizar e identificar ninos con discapabilidades que viven dentro de el limite de Edmond Public Schools. Cualquier nino que sea elegible empezando de edad de tres (3) anos y que son residentes del distrito de Edmond Public Schools tienen derecho a una educacion gratis. Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) mandato por el acta de Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). La educacion especial y otros servicicos para ninos elegibles de 3-21 anos de edad sera determinado por el Individualized Education Program (IEP), y los miembros de el grupo que esta educando al nino.
